Dragons sign Alex Mellor

Catalans Dragons are pleased to announce the signing of Alex Mellor, who will join the club from the 2027 season.

The 31-year-old Castleford Tigers second row and captain has signed a two-year contract with the Dragons and will remain with the club until the end of the 2028 season.

Trained at Bradford, the English back rower made his professional debut for the Bulls in 2013 at the age of 18. Initially used as part of the squad rotation, he became a key member of the Bradford’s squad three seasons later, enjoying an impressive campaign with 9 tries in 26 Super League appearances.

The following season, he moved to Huddersfield, where he continued his strong form with a series of impressive performances. His consistency earned him a move to Leeds in 2020.

After three more seasons at the Rhinos, he joined Castleford midway through the 2022 season. He reached the 100 appearances for the Tigers during the 2026 season.

After 13 seasons at the highest level, he has made 275 appearances and scored 47 tries.
