Club Statement – Grading

Rugby League Commercial and IMG have announced the latest club gradings, as part of an increasingly demanding and competitive grading system. Catalans Dragons have been awarded a score of 14.83/20 and Grade B this season.

Introduced to support the growth and development of clubs, the grading system is based on five key pillars: Fandom, Finance, Stadium, Community and On-Field Performance.

Its main objectives are to grow fanbases, diversify revenue streams, encourage sustainable investment, ensure sound financial management and strengthen club governance.

In an environment where standards continue to rise each season and competition between clubs becomes increasingly intense, Catalans Dragons are ranked 9th this year with a score of 14.83/20.

The club takes a realistic and measured approach to this assessment. The grading provides a snapshot of the club’s position at a given point in time and can naturally evolve from one season to the next. Beyond the grade awarded, our priority remains to continue strengthening and developing the club over the long term.

This assessment, which notably takes into account performances over the past two seasons as well as changes to various criteria, allows the club to measure the progress made, identify areas for improvement and establish new opportunities for development in the years ahead.

Sébastien Munoz, Catalans Dragons CEO:

“The standards required by this grading system continue to rise, and all clubs are now working towards achieving increasingly high standards. This is a positive development for our competition and for rugby league as a whole.

This assessment allows us to understand exactly where Catalans Dragons stand in an increasingly competitive environment and, above all, to identify the areas in which we need to continue improving.

We approach this evaluation with a clear understanding of our position, but also with the belief that building and developing a club is a long-term process. Our ambition remains unchanged, and the club is fully committed to several major projects that will enable us to continue progressing, both on and off the field, financially and in terms of infrastructure.

The Guasch-Laborde Stand project is a major example of this. Construction work is expected to begin in the coming weeks, and this new stand will represent an important milestone in the club’s development. It will further enhance the experience we offer our supporters and partners and provide a significant opportunity for growth for Catalans Dragons.

We also recognise that sporting results play a part in the assessment of our overall project, but our ambition is first and foremost focused on the long term. We want to build sustainably, with a strong emphasis on player development, supporting our young players and strengthening our teams, while continuing to improve the club’s structure and professionalism. Our objective is to create the conditions for solid and sustainable progress, both on and off the field.

Catalans Dragons have strong foundations, an ambitious project and an exceptional environment in which to continue growing.

I would like to thank our Chairman Bernard Guasch, all our directors, local authorities, partners and sponsors, club staff, volunteers and, of course, our supporters.

Together with them, and driven by our shared ambition to continue growing Catalans Dragons, we will keep moving forward and striving to achieve the highest standards in the competition.”
